Bible Study: Galatians 4:22-23 NLT
“The Scriptures say that Abraham had two sons, one from his slave wife and one from his freeborn wife. The son of the slave wife was born in a human attempt to bring about the fulfilment of God’s promise. But the son of the freeborn wife was born as God’s own fulfilment of his promise.”
Have you ever asked God to guide your steps but felt frustrated because you didn’t know exactly where you were headed? It’s a common feeling, but sometimes not knowing the whole plan is good. Let’s explore why.
The verses from Galatians remind us of a story from the Bible. Abraham, a faithful man, had two sons—one from his wife and another from her servant. The first son was born because they tried to make God’s promise come true in their way. The second son, however, was born because God fulfilled His promise His way.
This story teaches us that rushing ahead and trying to make things happen on our own can lead to problems. Think of it like this: Have you ever tried to solve a puzzle without looking at the picture on the box? It’s tough! Similarly, when we don’t have the complete picture of God’s plan, we might make choices that don’t fit well and cause more trouble.
Imagine you’re on a road trip and have a GPS that knows the best route. But what if you ignore the GPS and take detours because you think you know better? You might get lost or face unnecessary challenges. In the same way, God knows the best path for our lives, even when we don’t see it.
When we don’t know what’s coming next, it’s like a test of our patience and trust. Instead of getting frustrated, we can learn to lean on God’s wisdom. Just like physical training strengthens our muscles, facing challenges and uncertain times can grow our faith. As we keep following God’s lead, we become more mature in our faith.
Remember, God understands us better than we understand ourselves. He knows our strengths and weaknesses. So, He guides us in a way that helps us become the best version of ourselves, like how an artist carefully crafts a masterpiece.
So, if you’re feeling impatient or unsure about your future today, remember that God’s plan is bigger than what we can see. He has a purpose for each of us, and even though we might not know all the details, we can trust Him. You can find comfort in reading Bible passages that remind you of God’s love and faithfulness. Just like a friend who knows the way, God will lead us step by step, and in the end, we’ll not only receive His promises but also grow into more Christ-like individuals through the journey.
