What is your attitude while you wait on the Lord for something you’ve asked for? Do you grumble and complain the whole time, especially when you are believing for something that seems very unlikely to happen, or do you give thanks to God with peace and joy, fully trusting that He has your best interest at heart and knowing that you’ll be fine? Sometimes it’s easier to believe the worst-case scenario, at least that way you protect yourself from getting disappointed right? Well, I know the feeling all too well. A favourite preacher of mine (Jesse Duplantis) once said that we have no problem having faith, we just have faith in what the devil says (worst-case scenario) instead of what God says (best-case scenario). Yes, sometimes it is good to keep the possibility of not getting exactly what you are believing for in mind (as that may not be God’s plan for you) but your focus should be on what you do know for a fact which is that whatever happens will be God best for you at that time in your life. So if you’re struggling to believe that then the next question you should ask yourself is, do you really believe that God has your best interest at hand and that He is capable of doing way more than you can ever ask or imagine?
‘For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ Jerimiah 29:11(NIV)
‘God can do anything, you know – far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.’ Ephesians 3:20 (MSG)
If you truly believe that He is capable of doing all that you have asked for and more and also believe that His ultimate plan is to give you hope and a future, waiting on God should ultimately give you peace. One thing I am learning to do while I am believing and waiting on the Lord is to cast all my cares and worries unto Him particularly when I get moments of doubt and fear (because sometimes these feelings are inevitable) and this helps me to let go of my current situation that is out of my control and focus on the next goal that lies ahead.
‘Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.’ 1 Peter 5:7
‘Cast your burden on the Lord [release it] and He will sustain and uphold you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken (slip, fall, fail).’ Psalm 55:22(AMP)
So I would like to encourage you to wait in joy and faith based on the fact that is God is in control and only wants the best for us.
Have an awesome day!
God loves you!
Love,
Tobi.
