Jeremiah 17:5-8
5 This is what the Lord says:
“Cursed is the one who trusts in man,
who draws strength from mere flesh
and whose heart turns away from the Lord.
6 That person will be like a bush in the wastelands;
they will not see prosperity when it comes.
They will dwell in the parched places of the desert,
in a salt land where no one lives.
7 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
8 They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”

I’m sure it’s no surprise to many that as the years go by the world is gradually trying to  push God and the notion of His existence away. As science and technology continues to develop exponentially, it gradually becomes easier and normal to trust in mans’ strength and intelligence and more foreign to trust in the almighty and supernatural God that we can neither see nor touch. Though God created us as highly intelligent beings capable of creating amazing things, we are still human and therefore bound to make many mistakes. Sin having made its permanent mark on this world has only made us even more imperfect. The passage in vs 9 even goes on to say that ,“The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?” We need to remember that the word is there to protect and guide us through life’s journey. The passage already warns us of the consequences of trusting in man, though I am sure many of us have already experienced the sharp pain of being disappointed by someone we trusted in…psh I know I have. Being able to fully trust God and receive the blessings that comes with it, allows us to understand and love each other despite our imperfections because our trust is no longer in an imperfect man but in a perfect God who loves us beyond our understanding. The beauty of trusting in God is that we no longer have anything to fear and can be confident in the truth that God will take care of us and bless us.
