James 4:2-3, 8
2 You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
I can’t count the amount of times I got upset with God because He didn’t give me what I had asked for at the time I thought I needed it.
Now I am sure that we are all familiar with the passage “Ask and it shall be given unto you seek and you shall find…”(Matthew7:7)
A lot of times that was the passage I stood on when I made my requests known on to God and when I didn’t get what I asked for I started to give up or say that maybe God just doesn’t like me. I know pretty childish huh. A lot of times we forget that God isn’t just there to be the magic genie that grants all our desires whether good or bad. He is our heavenly Father that actually wants a relationship with us and loves us enough to restrain from giving us just anything we want especially when He knows the outcome of giving us what we want isn’t very pleasant.
Our first and foremost priority in life should be to build a relationship with God and thankfully we can do that by spending more time with Him. When we don’t get what we want, instead of getting all upset, we should re-evaluate our motives behind what we have asked for. The closer we become with God the more our requests gradually move in line with what God has planned for us and the more yeses we will receive.

Thank God for such insight. It is true, I am also guilty of giving up on God when I don’t get what I request for. It can be hard too, depending on what the request is. But I guess it’s partnofntje process, developing our faith. More grace and inspiration to you Tobi 🙂 <3
